At a 2007 Yankees game fans in the stands sing to a Mets fan. They do a version of YMCA with their own "charming" words. And we wonder why our kids get bullied at school? Would these same people sing a song with the "n" word in the lyrics as a joke? Yea, I guess they probably would.
The point is until we make it unacceptable to use the word "gay" as a put down and synonym for "lame" or "bad" we will have an uphill fight. I hope these bigots see themselves on YouTube and someday realize how ignorant and crass this makes them look.
Then again they are Yankees fans, so I kind of doubt that. How does that joke feel?
