Tea Party Candidate in Deleware Claims to be a Witch?

Well for someone pimping Christian values, Christine O'Donnell has a pretty colorful background. A clip surfaced from 1999, on Bill Mhar's show where she claims she dabbled in Witchcraft and had a date on a Satanic Alter! I have nothing against Wiccans, some of my best friends are witches, but O'Donnell is just plain loony.

This is what happens when Republicans go mad, they elect Tea Party candidates and then have to spend all their time covering for them. O'Donnell has already canceled all her appearances on the Sunday talk shows. Seems the more she talks the less electable she is.

GOP "Placated Extremists"

So now that he is no longer head of the Florida Republican Party, Jim Greer is starting to speak out about what really is going on in the bowels of the GOP.  Like Ken Mehlman coming out, Greer has had his own "coming out" and now feels free to tall the truth.  In a recent statement he said:
"Unfortunately, I found that many within the GOP have racist views and I apologize to the President for my opposition to his speech last year and my efforts to placate the extremists who dominate our Party today."
So let's just get this straight.  Republicans will say or do anything to get votes, that is the gist of this statement.  Placating the extreme means buckling to the bigots and pandering for votes, plain and simple.  Kind of like what certain candidates are doing with the Log Cabin Republicans.  Senator John Cornyn admitted to the Family Research Council, (another extremist group) that he appeared at a Log Cabin event simply to garner votes. All I can say is at least the Republican whores know what they are.

Harry Reid Sets Vote for DADT

Well finally the Senate will vote on DADT.  Harry Reid, Senate Majority Leader set the vote for next week.
This follows a court decision that DADT is unconstitutional on a First Amendment  basis since it limits free speech.

This should be interesting.  It is about frigging time the Senate moved on this, the House already passed a similar measure.   Surprisingly, I got a semi-supportive email from my senator, Kay Bailey Hutchinson on the subject.  Dems had better stand up on this one or the GOP might take credit for it.

Fox News = Tea Party

Maybe I am the only one who gets this, but if you follow the goings on at Fox News you soon discover that they are the motivation behind the "Tea Party" movement.  They are even coercing candidates to follow the platform set out by Fox News.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) was on Fox Business News yesterday and the host asked him if he would sign onto Fox Business’ agenda, something called “The Scoreboard Pledge".  This analog of the old "contract with America" from the 90's is being driven by Fox, not the GOP or anyone else.

Meanwhile the network is promotion "Tea Party" merchandise on what I suspect is a Fox News website.

It's amazing to see what is masquerading as the press, driving the political narrative so blatantly.  Wake up America, Rupert Murdock and friends are trying to run the country, literally! There used to be laws against this kind of thing, but since the Regan Bush era, all those dividers between business and politics are gone.

Governor Charlie Crist to Issue Pro-Gay Endorsement

Former GOP member and current Governor of Florida, Charlie Crist is preparing to issue a statement that will be a ringing endorsement for gay rights.  The blog Raw Story received an advance copy of the statement and it includes calls for employment non-discrimination, adoption rights and inheritance and hospital visitation rights for same-sex couples.  He also takes a stance against DADT!

Seems that now Crist has left the Republican party and become an independent he can actually do something for the LGBT citizens of Florida. His recent reversal of conscience may or may not play well with his constituents in his bid for reelection.  There is considerable animosity in the LGBT community toward him as many believe he is a closeted gay man.  Should be an interesting race for Governor.
