Iraq Government Balks At Security Agreement - May Want US Out Now!

I find it ironic that the Bush Administrations intransience in Iraq may actually lead to the US being booted out by the Iraqi government. The security agreement that has been under negotiation by the Bush folks is, so far, totally inacceptable to the Iraqi National Congress. So basically Bush’s stubbornness may actually lead to a swift end to our involvement in the war! Who could have guessed that?

The problem hinges on the demand for permanent bases, (something Bush once promised us he didn’t want) and immunity for private contractors. Oh yea, and there is the little matter of wanting authorization for a war with Iran.

Think back to the Saddam years. He had a war with Iran, a gang of thugs that were immune to prosecution and an economy that was strapped to the huge military presence Saddam maintained. Funny how the same things are Bush’s big problem.

Tim Russert Dies Of Heart Attack

While he was at work at the NBC news bureau, Tim Russert suffered a massive heart attack and died . Tim was host of Meet the Press for many years and was only 8 years old. His death is a big loss to the television journalism world and he will be missed by his colleagues and fans alike.

NBC’s News division is in a state of shock as evident by the announcement by Tom Brokaw who delivered the grim news in a bulletin. Apparently few people had any idea he was suffering from any previous heart problems.

Voting Republican - Parody Video!

Show this video to anyone who says they will vote for McCain rather than Obama, or those disgrunteled Clinton supporters who rant about voting Republican.

Ann Coulter Lashes Out At McCain

Well seems the split in the GOP is widening as we watch. Now, right-wing provocateur Ann Coulter said of John McCain as well as liberals being, "lickspittles" not "worthy of kissing Bush's behind."

You gotta hand it to Ann, she always makes a splash! She went on to say, “John McCain should be so lucky as to be running for Bush's third term. Then he might have a chance.”

It’s a bad sign when the foremost verbal bashers for the GOP turn on their own. Read the rest of the article by Jeffrey Feldman at Huffigton Post.

The Truth About Obama - Fight The Smears

The Obama campaign is one of the most net-savvy organizations to hit the political scene in years. They have decided to directly confront the lies being spread over the internet and by various hat-talk radio hosts. The site, called Fight the Smears is part of the Obama campaign site and rather than ignoring the lies calls them and their perpetrators out.

For example, Rush Limbaugh has said repeatedly that there is a video circulating of Michelle Obama using the word “whitey” from the pulpit of Trinity United Church of Christ. There is no such tape and the whole rumor is designed to instill fear in bigoted people who are irrationally afraid of African Americans.

Check the site out and refer your friends to it. It’s time to stop the rumors and spread the truth!

Some GOP Senators Not Backing McCain!

Seems there is a bit of a falling out in the GOP and I couldn’t be happier. Not one to revel in schaddenfreude I do find a bit of satisfaction in seeing the once lockstep GOP losing its cadence. Seems there is a group of about 14 Senators who have refused to endorse or publicly support Sen. John McCain for president.

That kind of party bickering has long been the Democrats territory, but it seems McCain is a polarizing agent for the Republicans. According to a post in the blog, The Hill:

Republican members who have not endorsed or publicly backed McCain include Sens. Chuck Hagel (Neb.) and Jeff Sessions (Ala.) and Reps. Jones, Peterson, John Doolittle (Calif.), Randy Forbes (Va.), Wayne Gilchrest (Md.), Virgil Goode (Va.), Tim Murphy (Pa.), Ron Paul (Texas), Ted Poe (Texas), Todd Tiahrt (Kan.), Dave Weldon (Fla.) and Frank Wolf (Va.).

Add to this the fact that McCain is snubbing the Texas Republican Convention and we might have the makings of big cracks in the Republican monolith. Time will tell, but it is good news for Democrats as the November election draws near.

McCain On Our Troops In Iraq - Video

"Secret Muslim" And Other Lies From The McCain Camp!

Sometimes I really have to wonder if the quote from Henry Mencken, “no one ever went broke underestimating the intelligence of the American public,” isn’t true. The same folks who brought you the famous “Willie Horton” ads are at it again. This time they are pushing the lie that Barack Obama is a “secret Muslim” whatever that means.

At first I thought it was a Stephen Colbert joke, but nope, it’s part of a campaign to instill fear in the masses of American’s who don’t read or even attempt to learn the truth. In other words, Fox News viewers!

Here’s the reality, Obama attended a school in Indonesia. A school run by Catholics at the time Obama attended according to Indonesia's Ministry of Religious Affairs. Still these folks never let the truth get in the way of a good lie. The TV spots use the ruse of posing a question as though it were truth, then compounding the lie by saying that Obama will not clarify the issue.

Well here is the clarification from the Obama campaign. "Senator Obama has never been a Muslim," Robert Gibbs, Obama's communications director, said. "As a six-year-old in Catholic school, he studied the catechism."

Secret Muslim? Maybe secret Catholic but that wouldn’t instill fear in the heartland, so the Muslim lie is born. As to McCain, he swore not to run a dirty campaign, yet here is a group, allegedly “not affiliated with McCain’s campaign” running this attack lie. Could McCain be a secret racist? Let’s try that line and see if it sticks.

McCain Unlikely To Use Cheney In Campaign

It seems the biggest news about John McCain is no news at all. CBS made the “startling” revelation that McCain is unlikely to use Dick Cheney in his campaign or his fundraising. Since McCain is trying desperately to distance himself from the Bush Administration, and since everyone knows he has endorsed almost all of Bush’s policies, it’s a no brainer. Besides, only at a Star Wars convention would someone with the reputation for being the administration’s “Darth Vader” be a positive addition to a campaign.

Meanwhile McCain continues to criticize Barack Obama for encouraging a higher Social Security tax cap on folks making $200,000 per year, a plan McCain endorsed back in 1995. Guess his memory must be fading.

Earth's Oceans Evaporating! How About A Day At The Beach?

With the threat of the earth spiraling toward the sun and vaporization being the ultimate fate of our planet, what can we do? How about a day at the beach in Ocean City, Maryland?

That's the new campaign for the East Coast resort city and it's funny and smart. Watch and enjoy.

Bush Fired Karl Rove At Church - According To New Book

So it seems George Bush is a master at choosing the right place to deliver bad news. He chose a place where there would not be a messy scene or outburst, and that works just great for the person delivering the news…not so much for the receiver.

So what was this bad news? Well he told his old “bud” Karl Rove that things were heating up too much and it was time for him to go. And where did he do it? Church, where else?

According to a new book, Machiavelli’s Shadow by former Time magazine reporter Paul Alexander, Bush gave the bad news to Karl at the Episcopalian Church Rove sometimes attended. In a quote from the book: “They made their way to the front of the congregation. Then, during their time in the church, Bush gave Rove some stunning news. ‘Karl,’ Bush said, ‘there’s too much heat on you. It’s time for you to go.’”

The rest of the book reportedly does not portray Rove in a favorable light. It is filled with quotes from GOP operatives with less than complimentary things to say about him.

No wonder Bush called him “Fart Blossom”!

Hillary Has Millions In Debt And No Campaign

It’s no secret that Hillary needs cash. Her campaign ended with her owing millions in debt. It is still unclear whether the Obama campaign will help her out with the staggering $9.5 million in unpaid bills, but there are meetings with top Clinton fundraisers going on already.

I encourage you to contribute to the Obama campaign, but once you have done that, why not give a little to Senator Clinton as well. She fought a long fight and has really broken the glass ceiling for a lot of women in politics. She deserves a big thank you and help with her financial problems.

Kucinich Enters Articles Of Impeachment! Video!

God bless Dennis Kucinich! He entered the articles of impeachment for President Bush.

McClellan To Testify Before Congress!

Congressman Robert Wexler has been pushing for accountability form the Bush Administration for their barrage of lies leading up to the Iraq war. The idea of impeachment is part of his plan. Now, it seems that might be a little closer to reality as Scott McClellan, former White House Press Secretary has agreed to testify before the House Judiciary Committee. That was made official today as Judiciary Committee Chairman John Conyers officially invited Mr. McClellan to testify under oath on Friday, June 20th at 10AM.

This should make for some interesting viewing as McClellan comes forward with the truth about goings on in the White House prior to the war and during other critical times such as the Valerie Plame scandal.

Wexler has already listed his top three questions for McClellan under oath.

1. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney , and key administration officials take in the effort to reveal the identity of covert CIA agent Valeria Plame Wilson – thus destroying her network and putting lives in jeopardy?

2. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, and key administration officials take regarding the firing of U.S. Attorneys or political reasons?

3. What role did President Bush, Vice President Cheney, key administration officials take in conspiring to blatantly break U.S. and International laws prohibiting the use of torture?

Maybe now we can get real answers and some kind of closure on this tragic period in American Democracy.

Obama Talks To His Staff After Winning The Nomination

I watched a video of Barack Obama speaking to his campaign staff after winning the primaries. I feel better than ever about supporting him for the Presidency of this country. Obama talks to his staff about what they have done and how their efforts are changing the world. He turns the focus of the impromptu speech to himself only two or three times and always in the context of how his workers have lifted him up as a candidate.

He speaks from a selfless perspective and concentrates on the common good and that is what a great leader does. Watch it and let me know if you agree.
