Why the strong headline. Well still stuck in DFW waiting for qa flight to Calgary. The airline has not given any reason for the delay, changed gates without telling anyone and now is trying to find an airplane to fly us there. All with no explanation appology or anything.
Damn I hate flying. I remember when it used to be fun.

More Airport Blogging
Ah, the joys of being stuck in an airport. Having spent $20 already on coffee and sodas, I am wired and feeling a bit testy. Supposedly we are leaving around 2:30pm, a full 4 and a half hours late. I will believe it when I am on the plane and off the ground.
Airport Blogging
Bad weather is always fun when you are stuck in an airport. Sitting on uncomfortable chairs and trying to make productive use of time while looking over your shoulder at the status board hoping to see your flight boarding! Long sentence, but it's pretty accurate.
Even in the newest terminal here at DFW there is little to do other than pay per minute to surf the net, get yet another bad airport shoeshine or suck down more coffee. Did I mention the coffee! Guess I have had too much already.
On my way to Calgary, Alberta today for the weekend. I am glad I left a day early since it looks dicey if I will even get out of here before afternoon.
Meanwhile I will wander around and find another Starbucks...you can never have enough caffeen!

New York Assembly Passes Gay Marriage Bill
From a press release by the Empire State Pride Agenda:
By a bipartisan vote of 89 to 52, the New York State Assembly today passed a bill that would allow same-sex couples to marry in New York. This is the second time that the Assembly has voted on and passed marriage equality legislation. The Assembly first passed the bill in June 2007 by a vote of 85 – 61. Today’s vote saw an increase in four supporters over 2007, including three additional Democrat votes and one additional Republican vote, for a total of 84 Democrats and five Republicans voting to support marriage equality for same-sex couples. Five Assembly members who voted “no” in 2007 voted “yes” today. Now on to the New York State Senate. The governor is expected to sign the bill if it is approved.

Pope's Spokesperson Denys Benedicts Involvement With Hitler Youth
Apparently the Vatican has been taking lessons from the old Bush Administration playbook. While on his trip to the Middle-East, the Pope's spokesman, Father Federico Lombardi, vehemently denied that the Pope was in the Hitler Youth. The problem is Pope Benedict XVI haws freely admitted that he was drafted into the Hitler Youth in 1941.
"The Pope was never in the Hitler Youth, never, never, never,'' Father Federico Lombardi, told a press conference in Jerusalem.
I guess they believe if you keep saying it it eventually becomes true?
Personally , I find the fact that he was a member of the Hitler Youth and yet now has become pope an example of grace. He joined unwillingly at a time when all young people in Germany were effectively drafted into the organization. That he has put that behind him and gone on to become Pope is a testament to how much a person can change and to the strength of the human spirit.
Do I agree with the Pope very often, oh heck no! He is an ultra-conservative whose views on Christianity I do not share, but I certainly don't hold his past against him.
