This clip from Bill Maher's show is astounding. To imagine her as a Senator is beyond appalling. Watch and try not to throw up.

Stephen Colbert Testifies Before Congress - Funny and True!
Once again the court jester is the only person who can carry the message nobody wants to say to power. Stephen Colbert, in character testified before a Congressional hearing on the immigration laws and he did it with humor of course. Most importantly, he made the point that migrant farm workers not are taking American's jobs. They do the tasks nobody else wants to do and for poor wages. Things need to change.
In spite of the fact that he actually told the truth, the right-wing is all a twitter about it. Saying he made a mockery of the system...blah, blah, blah. No, Fox News, he told the truth, something you and your network don't really understand. Watch it and let me know what you think.

Sexual Freedom Day!
Woodhull Foundation celebrates Sexual Freedom Day today on the anniversary of Victoria Woodhull's birthday. In case you didn't know the foundation has a very simple mission: "To affirm sexual freedom as a fundamental human right".
Woodhull Foundation envisions a world that recognizes sexual freedom as the fundamental human right of all individuals to develop and express their unique sexuality; to be personally autonomous with regard to bodily integrity and expression; and to enjoy sexual dignity, privacy and consensual sexual expression without societal or governmental interference, coercion or stigmatization.
So why do I celebrate? Aside from being on the Advisory Council for Woodhull, I am a firm believer in the mission. I suspect some of this came from coming of age in the 1960's when the "free love" movement was reborn. Additionally, I had the amazing opportunity to experience the Gay Liberation movement of the 1970's at it's peak just prior to the outbreak of HIV/AIDS.
I once heard author Jack Fritscher refer to this period as the "time between Penicillin and the plague". It was a heady time for a young gay man and though some of it remains a blur in my memory, I wouldn't have traded it for anything.
Through some strange twist of fate, I managed to survive the era and remain to this day HIV-. The lessons learned then were important and I believe are often forgotten today. A whole generation looked at that time and many threw out the baby with the bathwater. They shut down their sexuality and withdrew. True it was safer, but you can still be safe and enjoy the fullness of your sexuality.
I have tried to carry this message in every endeavor I am involved with. I firmly believe in sexual freedom, and know that it is something that can be safe and still rich and enjoyable. I teach classes and write on many aspects of sexuality from BDSM to vanilla sex. My message is always one of responsibility, safety and most of all encouraging people to experience a full and authentic sex life.
Yes, I know it isn't quite a wild as the 1970's, but my generation has matured and some of them have managed to keep the spirit that first charmed them out of the closet and into the mainstream of LGBT sexuality alive. Sexual freedom is precious to me, and I fight for it energetically. For me it is the freedom to express myself with a partner or partners in a sexual/sensual/erotic way. I respect the idea of consensual acts as well as the venue of consensual space and still manage to have a wonderful time.
It is a freedom born of communication, respect, creativity and a bit or twisted ingenuity. It is a message I hope to share with others. Like the actress Rosalind Russel says in the movie Auntie Mame, "Life is a banquet and most poor suckers are starving to death!" Feast and enjoy!

John McCain Parses Words, But He Is Still Lying
Though McCain continues to claim it is not the military policy to actively seek out LGBT service members, there are documented cases of it happening. His continued denials in this press clip show just how he is either completely in the dark (which I doubt) or is just another lying Republican scumbag ( which I believe).
Joe Biden - Aiding the Enemy
Joe Biden is appearing today at a fundraiser that benefits Sen. Blanche Lincoln of Arkansas. Lincoln is one of the two Democratic Senators who voted with Republicans on the DADT repeal. The fact that the Vide-President is campaigning for her sends me a clear message. "Thanks for your money, you'll have to wait for your rights."
I am tempted to become cynical now about the whole LGBT alliance with the Democratic Party. When party leaders support people who vote against our rights it gives me pause. I am not ready to jump ship, but it has done nothing to squelch my anger at the whole situation. My hope is a lame-duck session of Congress might get this done. Unfortunately, that seems to be the only way Democratic lawmakers are willing to stand up for LGBT rights. Let's hope and work to get something passed, or there might not be a chance for a while if we lose the Senate. Of course we have the Senate and still can't do it so...go figure?

Spinless Democratic Senators Join GOP on DADT
Gutless wonders, Arkansas Democratic Senators Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln both voted no on the defense bill that would have repealed DADT. Harsh words, HELL YES.
This whole thing was shoe-horned in at the last minute and show just how little concern it really is for the Senate. The House already passed this, the people want this and yet the fossils in the Senate block it. And people wonder why the Tea Party is screwing the GOP? Heck we might need the same thing in the Democratic Party.

Lindsay Lohan Fails Drug Test - AGAIN!
OK, So who the heck is Lindsay Lohan other than a dim-witted drug-addled rich girl? I understand how tough it is to fight an addiction, been there done that, but come on. She has an entourage who should be able to keep her nose clean for 30 days!
More important why should anyone but her and her family and her judge care if she failed her drug test? What is so fascinating about her and why should anyone care? What kind of talent is she supposed to have that makes her a celebrity? Seriously, I do not know who she is other than the scandals! Hints?

Speech May Be Free - But Security Cost Money
The "good" folks at the Dove World Outreach center, you know the Qu'ran burners, may have been successful in their publicity stunt, but he city of Gainsville, Florida spent some serious bucks providing security for the event that didn't end up happening. Rev/ Terry Jones ruckus caused a much heightened state of security in the town that included a whole lot of surveillance and patrolling out of the ordinary for the small Florida community. The city says it spent almost $200,000 to protect the pastor and his stunt. Now it is time to pay the piper.
The city has submitted a bill and expects payment in full. Perhaps this will give Jones a chance to consider his next publicity stunt and the real cost.
