So now we know how John McCain plans to fund his tax credit for health insurance, but cutting the funds that provide health insurance for millions of Americans. In effect his plan would channel $1.3 trillion into private insurance companies through his tax credits. That means over the next 10 years that money would be cut from Medicare and Medicaid which goes to those American's who need it the most.
Sound familiar? It's old style neocon privateering. A way to pull funds from government programs that work and funnel it into the pockets of private companies who will glean the profit from it and deliver less.
At a time when so many American's have no insurance and virtually no health care alternatives, McCain would cut funds to the neediest just to deliver money to his cronies and supporters in big insurance. That is immoral and unconscionable and it shows the complete lack of a moral compass that is needed for these troubled times.
The Wall Street Journal has more.
