Just heard the sad news that Isaac Hayes is dead. I grew up listening to him and his special brand of groove R&B. The man had Soul with a capital "S".
I guess there is a whole generation of people who will only know him as the voice of Chef on South Park. Though he was great in that role, his real genius was his music. The theme from Shaft will probably outlive all of us.
Hayes was found dead in his home next to a treadmill. No cause of death has yet been released.
